We are seeking a dedicated, mission-driven educator who specializes in serving students with learning differences. Candidates should embrace a child centered philosophy that recognizes the learning potential of each student.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement lessons that fit students’ learning profiles
• Write individual support plans for students and track progress toward goals
• Differentiate instruction to reach all learners
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture and climate that aligns with our school’s mission
• Communicate and develop a relationship with parents in order to best support students
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Provide purposeful feedback through assignments, assessments, and report cards
• Conference with parents four times per year and as needed
• Collaborate with an instructional assistant and colleagues at grade level for team planning
• Coordinate with support staff
• Participate in professional development to stay current in best practices
• Attend staff and committee meetings
• Other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, special education preferred
• Current Kentucky teaching certificate
• Proficient in language-based learning disabilities and related disorders
• Knowledge in Orton-Gillingham based reading instruction
• Competent in the use of classroom technology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
