Essential Functions and Objectives:

Teaches diverse students, with a focus on Multilingual Learners, Newcomer, and New Arrival Students appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in ELD, Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development in a variety of schools, following school/District approved curriculum.
• Works as an Itinerant Multilingual Education Teacher to provide teaching and instructional supports to variety of schools in the District.
• Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve challenges of stakeholders to achieve systemic and sustainable improvement.
• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
• Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
• Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
• Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
• Knowledge and ability to effectively serve Multilingual Learners, Newcomers, and New Arrival Students in a variety of contexts.
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including small group instruction.
• Ability to manage the classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities.
• The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
• Works effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Knowledge with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs. Google Sheets, Google Slides.
• Select positions require the job to be bilingual in Spanish, or another language, in the areas of speaking, listening and/or reading*

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License with endorsement in Elementary Education and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education or HOUSSE qualified in elementary education OR qualify for Alternative License and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education.
