About the Work Unit
The Office of School Safety (OSS) was created to provide safe schools for all Colorado students in preschool through higher education. The Office of School Safety comprises three units: The School Safety Resource Center (CSSRC), the Crisis Unit and the Grants Unit.

About the Job
The position will provide research and evaluation support to the Office of School Safety to improve the quality and availability of school safety services in Colorado.

Work Environment
Hybrid schedule (2 days in office)

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment Research and Evaluation
The analyst will work with the Office of School Safety’s School Safety Resource Center to evaluate the threat assessment outcomes, creating baseline metrics and extrapolate outcomes to provide the best practice interventions for the most successful threat assessment outcomes.

Will work with the Office of School Safety to evaluate existing services, create baseline metrics, and forecast the unmet needs of school safety programing. The analyst will also assist the collaborative effort with other state agencies on program evaluations to share data and more consistently measure school safety efforts statewide.

Data Tracking and Report Writing
The position will write data reports and be responsible for creating and maintaining a data-tracking system for the Office of School Safety. The position will collaborate with OSS staff to create data visualizations that will allow for easy access to service provision data.

Literature Reviews
The position will conduct literature reviews on best practices in school safety programing including threat assessment, as well as on best practices from other states or funders on measuring school safety programing.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven (7) years of professional data analysis experience including researching, compiling, analyzing and disseminating data.

OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field AND three (3) years of professional data analysis experience including researching, compiling, analyzing and disseminating data.

OR

Advanced degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field AND one (1) year of professional data analysis experience including researching, compiling, analyzing and disseminating data.

Required Competencies

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's or advanced degree from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency in SQL, Google Suite, Excel and data visualization.
• Experience in Educational data analytics.
• Experience developing reporting tools and dashboards that integrate and align with business needs;
• Experience presenting analytical results to non-technical audience.
• Experience in an institutional research environment.
• Exceptional analytical skills.
• Experience in School Safety or Threat Assessment.

Conditions of Employment
• Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes polygraph exam, fingerprint based criminal history search as a condition of hire.
• Must be Colorado resident at the time of application
