Job Responsibilities
• Provides instructional leadership in assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Incorporate cultural elements into lessons to promote cultural understanding and appreciation.
• Educates students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, dress, and social events.
• Develops and administers foreign language education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Develops student understanding and appreciation of the cultures and mores of countries where the Spanish language is the predominant or a major means of communication.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Administers student discipline procedures in a fair and consistent manner affording appropriate due process protection.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objects to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitation of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Completes and maintains accurate and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Submit reports within specified time lines.
• Communicates the district’s mission and goals among students, teachers, and community.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence in usage of new computer applications and equipment.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees or task forces as required.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct for the classroom. Develops reasonable rules for classroom behavior and procedures.
• Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistant(s) and/or volunteers. Provides information related to evaluation of their job performance.
• Perform other related duties as specified or assigned by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of the identified language, in terms of grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, and literature.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile
• Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or related field
• Master's degree preferred
• Valid Oklahoma Certificate or License in Spanish
• Ability to provide instructional leadership in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum
• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to effectively organize and manage time

Education
• Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or related field

Experience
• Successful prior Spanish teaching experience a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $43,492.19 per year
