We seek a High School History Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. The position will be primarily teaching U.S. and AP U.S. History, along with semester-long seminar elective offerings. Our High School history curriculum begins with a two-year Culture and Civilization sequence, running ancient through medieval. A required year of United States history, along with optional AP courses and seminar electives, round out the offerings. Recent electives have included Gender Studies, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, The History of Food, Queer Studies, Democracy in America, and Conspiracy Theories. The focus in all courses includes reading, writing, critical thinking, discussion, depth of inquiry, and culturally responsive teaching.

A bachelor’s degree (master’s or Ph.D. preferred) and some teaching experience are required; an understanding of Independent Schools, strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, the ability and desire to work collaboratively, and dedication to continuously developing and practicing cultural competence in one’s teaching are also essential. Extracurricular and/or athletic coaching ability is a plus
