POSITION SPECIFICS:
• There are currently three (3) Project Resource Teacher openings assigned to support of the Early Childhood Special Education Department which is based out of 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92103. The incumbents will travel between school sites and District departments in support of the ECSE Department.
• Experience preferred, but not required;
• Implementing the Pyramid Model or other evidence-based early learning frameworks.
• Creating and implementing embedded learning opportunities in collaboration with all members of the classroom team.
• Experience with the Creative Curriculum or other play based, integrated full domain curriculum frameworks.
• Providing coaching, mentoring, or professional development to adult learners.
• Using observation and fidelity tools (e.g., TPOT, CLASS, Creative Curriculum Fidelity Tool).
• Strong communication, organization, and data collection skills.
• Ability to travel between multiple early learning school sites within the district.

Examples of Duties:

The Project Resource Teacher assigned to support the Early Childhood Special Education Department will:
• Provide individualized and group coaching to classroom teachers and instructional teams using Practice-Based Coaching aligned with the Pyramid Model, Inclusive Classroom Practices, and Curriculum frameworks.
• Conduct regular classroom observations using evidence-based tools (e.g., Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT), Inclusive Classroom Profile, and Curriculum Fidelity Tools) to assess program quality and guide targeted feedback.
• Coach and collaborate with teachers to implement a high-quality, inclusive, play-based, and intentional curriculum that fosters curiosity, problem-solving, and school readiness for all learners.
• Support teachers in promoting inclusion and equity through reflective coaching and collaborative problem-solving that prevent and reduce behaviors that challenge adults.
• Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs), site-based training, and district workshops focused on effective teaching strategies, developmentally appropriate practice, and social-emotional learning.
• Partner with site administrators, special education staff, and related service providers to align supports that promote inclusive practices and high-quality instruction.
• Collect and analyze observation and coaching data to inform program improvement and monitor progress toward identified outcomes.
• Maintain effective communication with school teams, families, and central office departments regarding coaching plans, progress, and outcomes.
• Participate in district-wide initiatives and a coaching community of practice to support fidelity of Pyramid Model implementation and continuous quality improvement.
• Travel between assigned school sites and district offices as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Qualified applicants must have a m inimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in early childhood education or early childhood special education settings, d emonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, inclusive education, and strategies to support social-emotional development and e xperience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including general and special education staff.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Valid California Teaching Credential with authorization for Early Childhood or Special Education (e.g., Early Childhood Special Education, Multiple Subject, or equivalent) or Child Development Master Teacher Permit or higher.
