Job Description
After School Audio leads inspiring music classes that serve the mission to "Cultivate Creative Confidence and Awareness in Young Minds," and we believe that music is the language of the soul. We aim to give kids a great first experience with music, where they learn music primarily by making it (learning by doing). We are opening-up a part-time position for a spiritually-minded individual with film/video scoring experience to guide two (or more) separate small groups of beginner-level 2nd-5th grade kids in learning simple video scoring.
• Lesson planning and curriculum building to lead video scoring activities in a multimedia DAW
• Support confidence-building by encouraging kids to take steps outside their comfort-zone in putting music and sounds to video, by demonstrating the joy of expression and inviting them to collaborate in order to witness and take-part-in the creative process, in-action.
• Create positive experiences focussing on simple productive communication and positive reinforcement guidance.
• Experience working with kids in group settings
• Experience film/video scoring
• Experience playing piano and being creative with the instrument (composing or improvising)
• Excellent classroom management skills to create an engaging and focussed learning environment
Each class meets once a week for about 1-hour each session, after school (one class is in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Seattle and one is on Mercer Island) - there may be more opportunities if interested (the exchange for each class taught is $95)
- Mondays - School in the Laurelhurst neighborhood - 3:00-4:00pm
- Wednesdays - School on Mercer Island - 3:30-4:30pm
