Position Overview

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Grade 7–8 Math Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will implement Illustrative Mathematics, a standards-based curriculum that fosters a develops a deep conceptual understanding of concepts through discourse and real-world applications . This teacher will help students see themselves as mathematicians and problem-solvers, using a growth mindset approach and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and relevant.

• Demonstrated professionalism and integrity through consistent preparation, timely completion of responsibilities, and high-quality lesson planning, assessment, and communication practices

Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement engaging, research-based mathematics instruction, using Illustrative Mathematics, aligned to grade-level standards and learning targets
• Develop and sustain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that fosters belonging, curiosity, and perseverance
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, inform and adjust instruction, and support mastery learning
• Collaborate closely with grade-level and content teams to analyze student work, and align instructional and classroom culture practices
• Model the Points of Polaris and Habits of Work to guide students in developing academic mindsets, self-discipline, and collaboration skills
• Communicate regularly and effectively with families to support student learning and character growth
• Participate actively in coaching cycles, professional learning communities, and whole-school improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and craftsmanship in lesson planning, communication, and meeting all deadlines and responsibilities

Qualifications and Attributes
• A growth mindset and unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels
• Valid teaching license(s) with a middle school endorsement in mathematics (Algebra preferred)
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
• Strong knowledge of research-based instructional practices, including differentiation
• Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Demonstrated skill in collaboration and teamwork
• Commitment to continuous improvement through reflection, feedback, and professional learning
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid Illinois teaching certification with middle school endorsement in mathematics
• Deep conceptual understanding of mathematics

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in an elementary and/or middle school setting
• Bilingual or ESL certification is a plus
