Job Description

Are you passionate about child-led learning and see yourself as a researcher of children's thinking? We are looking for a curious and dedicated teacher to join our Reggio-inspired preschool community in Washington, D.C. At St. John’s Preschool, we are a dynamic, collaborative team of educators who inspire and support one another while embracing the wonder of learning alongside children and families. As a Reggio-inspired preschool in the heart of Georgetown, we serve children ages 2.5-5 years, fostering a community where creativity, inquiry, and joy are at the center of everything we do.

What We're Looking For:
• A dedicated professional who finds joy in working with children, recognizing them as capable, resilient, and enthusiastic learners.
• An educator who embraces collaboration, adapts gracefully to uncertainty, and thrives in dynamic environments.
• An observant and reflective practitioner who documents and enhances children's learning journeys, fostering growth and discovery.
• Someone who values the "hundred languages of children," integrating art, music, movement, and diverse materials to enrich daily experiences and inspire creativity.
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in early childhood education or a related field.

What You'll Do:
• Co-teach with a passionate teaching partner in a classroom with low ratios, creating an intimate environment
• Document children's learning through photos, videos, notes, sketches, recordings and the weekly blog
• Design engaging indoor and outdoor experiences and environments based on children's ideas and curiosities
• Create meaningful relationships with families through regular communication and collaboration
• Participate in weekly faculty and team meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities
• Support children's social-emotional growth in a warm, respectful environment

• Competitive salary
• Option to work and earn during six week summer program
• In-house and external professional development opportunities
• Opportunity to support Early Childhood Educator Series training sessions
• A supportive, collaborative work environment
• 40-hour work week with dedicated time for planning and documentation

If you're excited about joining a school that embraces critical thinking, collaboration, the respect of every individual and where teachers are valued as researchers and co-learners, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your cover letter and resume to Molly McSherry at mmcsherry@stjohnsdc.org .
