Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage district career and technology education program and facilities to meet student needs.

Provides leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service.

Oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs and operation of all campus activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master's degree

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of federal and state code governing career and technology education

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Knowledge of exemplary educational programs and practices in career and technology areas

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Available to work frequent prolonged and irregular hours

Ability to implement policy and procedures and interpret data

Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in career and technical education (CTE) coordinator, director or above role preferred

High school counseling experience preferred

Experience with high school master scheduling, course planning, or related scheduling processes preferred

Experience coordinating, implementing, monitoring, or reporting on grants, including state or federal education grants such as Gear Up grants preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Provide leadership and support for development and implementation of innovative career and technology programs and programs of study.

2. Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and plans impact College and Career Readiness.

3. Ensure that curriculum is relevant and aligned to industry.

4. Help support the Teacher Incentive Allotment for CTE teachers.

5. Identify and define local job opportunities for students.

6. Collaborate with external partners for student internships.

7. Provide quality staff development for teachers to ensure best teaching and learning.

8. Develop community partnerships for input, assistance, and support for industry.

9. Assist and support to campus administrators in their development of campus plans for career and technology education.

10. Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.

11. Approve and forward purchase orders for the department to the accounting department.

12. Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure operation of the career and technology education department.

13. Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.

14. Assist students, parents, and teachers with career, college, and scholarship information.

15. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

16. Monitors all measures of state and federal accountability.

17. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

17. Oversee the Gear Up Grants

18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and firing of assigned staff members.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
