Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic ESS Paraprofessional to support (elementary /middle school) students with diverse learning needs. In this vital role, you will work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment. Your primary focus will be assisting students with disabilities, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral challenges, ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive academically and socially. Duties
• Provide direct classroom assistance to students with disabilities, supporting their academic, behavioral, and social needs in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
• Assist with lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy and math instruction tailored to individual student needs.
• Support classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and effective behavior management for students with behavioral disorders or autism spectrum disorders.
• Facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) when necessary, supporting students with communication challenges.
• Offer physical assistance for students requiring mobility or other physical support, ensuring safety and comfort during activities.
• Collaborate regularly with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized support plans.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting progress and incidents accurately through reports and logs.
Qualifications
• Prior experience working with children or students with disabilities in classroom or childcare settings is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of special education practices, including behavior management techniques and classroom support strategies for students with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.
• Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, basic math skills, and early childhood education principles.
• Experience working with individuals who have communication challenges or use alternative communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL).
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting student success.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally while providing physical assistance as needed for student safety.
• Excellent communication and writing skills to document student progress clearly and accurately.
• Knowledge of the Childcare field or toddler care is a plus but not required.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
