Position Summary and Overview
Occupational Therapist
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a maternity leave replacement to work with grades 1-4 from January 2027 until June 2027.

Occupational Therapy Services
• Work collaboratively with the Lower School team including teachers, other related service providers and specialists to plan and implement services.
• Provide individual and small-group OT services through pull-out sessions and push-in support.
• Address fine motor, gross motor, visual perceptual, sensory processing, and self-regulation skills as they relate to school participation.
• Support functional school skills including handwriting, classroom tool use, motor planning, and management of classroom materials.
• Develop and implement sensory and self-regulation strategies to support students’ attention, regulation, participation, and readiness to learn.
• Provide guidance and consultation to teachers to problem solve, make environmental and task modifications and brainstorm solutions for student needs.
• Observe students across school settings and provide recommendations to promote independence and successful participation.
• Complete OT progress monitoring and related documentation as appropriate.
• Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with families regarding student progress, concerns, and successes.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, department meetings and the IEP process
• Supervise students during group activities, lunch, recess, transition, and other duties as assigned, facilitating social skills and problem-solving when appropriate.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
• Masters or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• NYS License
• Experience providing pediatric occupational therapy services
• Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with languagbased learning disabilities.
• Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom.
• Interest in professional career development in the field of occupational therapy.
• Patience, flexibility, creativity, good organization skills, and a sense of humor.
Compensation
• $85K-$100K annual salary, commensurate with experience
• Employee Benefits Package: Health insurance, statutory disability, commute benefits, daily complimentary lunch, professional development opportunities, accrued PTO days (1 hour every 30 hours worked), paid school holiday.
