Job Description
MPS Community Education is in search of responsible, attentive, and safety-focused professionals to help provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive aquatic environment for the greater Minneapolis community!
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 16 years of age
• LIFEGUARD: Lifeguarding certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire date
• SWIM INSTRUCTOR: Water Safety Instructor certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 days
• SWIM COACH: USA Swimming Coach (or Jr Coach) certification, or must be willing to obtain within 30 days
Responsibilities:
• Maintain a clean and safe environment
• Supervise activity in and around the pool
• Demonstrate knowledge and aptitude in swim skills
• Enforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures
• Recognize and respond effectively in an emergency
• Communicate professionally with individuals of all ages
• Facilitate swim program and building needs
Physical Requirements:
• Pass a pre-employment test of skills and knowledge
• Work in a variety of environments that may be cold, hot, wet, noisy, odorous
• Concentrate for long periods of time and maintain constant surveillance
• Communicate verbally and loudly across distances
• Walk, stand, sit, reach, and kneel for long periods of time
• Bend and lift in accordance with certification requirements
• Maintain fitness in order to meet the requirements of certification(s)
