Job Description

Assists the Chief of Professional Learning & Pipeline Development in monitoring, coordinating, and advancing the day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and organizational priorities of the Office of Professional Learning & Pipeline Development. Serves as a strategic thought partner to the Chief by supporting the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of professional learning, coaching, leadership development, workforce pipeline, and equity initiatives across City Schools.

Ensures effective collaboration and communication among schools, central office departments, community partners, higher education institutions, and external stakeholders. Provides leadership and coordination for special projects, executive-level communications, organizational planning, performance monitoring, budget development, and cross-functional initiatives that support employee growth, leadership capacity, workforce development, and improved student outcomes. Maintains confidential information and represents the Chief in meetings, planning processes, and stakeholder engagement activities as appropriate

Essential Functions
• Provides leadership and management of administrative team and special projects on behalf of the Chief Officer. Provides leadership and management of administrative operations, cross-functional initiatives, and special projects on behalf of the Chief of Professional Learning & Pipeline Development.
• Coordinates the development of strategic plans, annual operating plans, performance measures, and progress monitoring systems for the Office of Professional Learning & Pipeline Development.
• Analyzes organizational, workforce, and programmatic data to assess effectiveness, identify trends, develop recommendations, and support decision-making by the Chief and executive leadership.
• Evaluates needs and services, human capital requirements, feasibility and cost effectiveness, performance and accountability, and other aspects of division management.
• Prepares executive summaries, documents, and correspondence. Prepares executive summaries, Board presentations, reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and other communications for internal and external stakeholders.
• Develops departmental budget drafts and manages compliance using pertinent budgetary planning and implementation data. Assists in the development and management of office budgets, grants, contracts, and expenditures while monitoring compliance with district policies and procedures.
• Responds to inquiries about problems, issues, program status, or activities and provides reports to the Chief Officer. Responds to and coordinates resolution of inquiries, issues, and information requests from City Schools central office departments, schools, and the public on matters related to the Chief's area of responsibility; ensures appropriate routing, monitors responsiveness, and provides status reports as needed.
• Coordinates and provides technical and logistical support for staffing and staffing transfers.
• Assists with planning, organizing, and facilitating stakeholder meetings, professional learning events, leadership convenings, and strategic planning sessions.
• Represents the Chief Officer in various meetings and conferences with a variety of groups, including employees, school administrators, public and private agencies, and community agencies. Represents the Chief in meetings, conferences, and workgroups involving district staff, community partners, educational institutions, and governmental agencies as assigned.
• Supports the integration of equity principles into professional learning, leadership development, workforce planning, and organizational decision-making processes.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes professional learning events, leadership development programs, conferences, convenings, and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring high-quality implementation, logistical coordination, and alignment with district priorities.
• Utilizes resources appropriately to complete work in the most efficient manner; proactively communicates the status of work; participates and contributes fully as a team member; and exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills to resolve sensitive matters.
• Maintains confidential and sensitive information.

Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
• Unless expressly stated otherwise with respect to the qualifications indicated in the position description, City Schools reserves the right to consider other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
• Three years project management experience with successful, timely deliverables and positive outcomes, preferred.
• Three years administrative experience in public education or related field, preferred.
• Experience analyzing data and preparing executive-level reports, presentations, and recommendations.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to make effective presentations to diverse audiences and convey complicated information with tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, work quickly to analyze problems and recommend workable solutions including the planning and implementation of those solutions.
• Skill in research, presenting, and explaining policies and procedures, assembling data, preparing complex reports, and formulating and presenting recommendations with all levels of management to facilitate change, implement strategy, and accomplish objectives.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize changing assignments, and organize busy workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure, while exercising excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and coordinate work across departments and stakeholder groups.

• Proficient skill in the use of technical computer applications, including electronic databases, and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($98,972 - $138,185).
