The River School is looking for a few more After Care Program Guides to join our 3pm team. Do you know an energetic, organized person who loves working with children to fill a part-time position? Students currently working on degrees in child-oriented fields are encouraged to apply, as are graduates looking for part-time employment in their afternoons! Responsibilities

As an After School Program Guide/Associate at The River School, your role will be:
• To plan, implement, and maintain engaging after-school activities, programs, and spaces;
• To care for, support, and always ensure the safety and well-being of children;
• To respond to students’ needs and learning in developmentally appropriate ways and in alignment with research-backed guidelines;
• To model respectful behavior and interactions with colleagues, students, and families, and to contribute to a positive learning environment for all;
• To assist in the development and implementation of daily program activities, including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, games, homework, etc.;
• To participate enthusiastically in all program activities, planning and leading those as assigned;
• To follow program protocols regarding photography and communication;
• To keep a record of children in attendance;
• To ensure the afterschool space and materials are maintained and stored appropriately, and the room is left ready for school the following day;
• To work from 2:30 - 6:30 pm Monday - Friday; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Experience working with young children is required
• A strengths based approach to children’s development
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team-teaching environment
• Ability to work creatively and in a self-directed manner
• Resourceful, flexible, and service-oriented
• Bachelor’s Degree, teaching certificate, or working towards a degree in early childhood, elementary education, special education, deaf education, or other child development fields are preferred.

Pay Range: $20-25 hourly

Physical Demands:

After School Teaching Guide/Associate have a variety of physical demands throughout the day:
• Tasks may include periods of time on one’s feet supervising and teaching children;
• Tasks may include periods of time being at the level of the students in the class, which requires up and down movements;
• Tasks include transitioning children to specialists’ classrooms and playgrounds, which requires the use of stairs;
• The ability to lift over 10 pounds;
• Tasks include cleaning throughout the day to ensure a healthy environment.
