As an integral resource in an educational setting, you will design and implement individualized instructional strategies, adapting curriculum materials to meet each learner’s needs. By fostering independence and academic growth, you’ll help students develop the skills they require to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
What You'll Bring:
• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience adapting and modifying curriculum for students with visual impairments
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and related service providers
• Ability to create accessible learning environments using low vision aids and assistive technology
• Passion for supporting students’ unique learning journeys
• Flexibility to work with students across a range of ages and grade levels
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, following individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Assess students’ functional vision and provide consultative support to general education teachers
• Develop accessible curriculum materials and recommend appropriate technologies or aids
• Train staff and families in strategies that help students maximize independence and participation
• Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven adjustments to support achievement
• Advocate for inclusion and appropriate accommodations within school settings
