Role Description The PreK Fellow is a full-time, on-site role based in San Antonio, TX, supporting high-quality early childhood learning in collaboration with lead teachers and school staff. The Fellow assists with daily classroom activities, including preparing materials, supporting whole-group and small-group instruction, and facilitating play-based, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment by supervising children, reinforcing classroom routines, and promoting positive behavior and social-emotional growth. The PreK Fellow communicates regularly with teachers and staff about student progress, provides support during arrival, dismissal, meals, and transitions, and contributes to classroom organization and cleanliness. The Fellow participates in professional development, implements school-wide systems, and models the school’s values and commitment to equity and student success.
Qualifications
• Experience working with young children in educational, childcare, or youth development settings, with an understanding of early childhood development and PreK classroom routines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with lead teachers, school staff, families, and diverse student populations.
• Ability to create a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes social-emotional learning, positive behavior, and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Organizational and time-management skills to assist with classroom setup, transitions, materials, and documentation of student activities.
• Commitment to educational equity and the school’s mission of closing opportunity gaps and preparing all students for future academic success.
• Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary coursework or degree in education, early childhood education, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to meet any state or district requirements for working in a PreK classroom, including background checks and relevant clearances.
