Specialized Special Education Program Teacher
(Mild/Moderate/Severe - K-5, 2026-27, 4 day schedule)

Futuro Academy Public Charter School, a new charter elementary school located in East Las Vegas, invites energetic professionals to apply to the position of Primary Autism Teacher (K-5). The school is founded on the belief that all students, regardless of their language ability, socioeconomic status, or zip code they were born into, can learn and achieve at high levels during their education when held to the highest expectations by a motivated and well-trained staff. It is our mission to provide an education all students to excel into middle school, through high school, and at the university of their choice.
The school opened in the fall of 2017 with four classes of Kindergarteners and 1st graders. We added a grade every year and are now at full Charter with grades PreK-5.

Position Summary
The teacher will create long-range and daily lesson plans to implement high quality, standards-based instruction for all students aligned to the Futuro Academy Charter School curriculum standards. The teacher will create and maintain a culturally responsive educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and Futuro Academy School programs and goals. The teacher will serve as teacher of record for students with disabilities. This person will be expected to adhere to the Professional Domains and Standards for Licensed Employees and will report directly to the school site administrator assigned.
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct and indirect instruction (through directing Teacher Assistants) in Special Education in core elementary education subjects;
• Evaluate students’ progress;
• Prepare at regular intervals individual student achievement reports for parents;
• Prepare required components of annual IEP documents;
• Facilitate annual IEP meetings;
• Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learning environment;
• Engage in effective and appropriate school-wide classroom management;
• Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff;
• Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree;
• Special Education Teacher certification;
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject they will teach, as evidenced by personal skills and knowledge, an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject they will teach, or direct subject-area teaching experience;
• Demonstrated communication skills;
• Demonstrated ability and experience to engage the interest of school-age children;
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse children, with emphasis on those with special needs;
• Teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting;
• Demonstrated ability to work well with parents;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member;
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate tests and measurements of achievement;
• Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for student results.
Preferred Skills and Work Experience
• Expertise in the subject area they will teach, as evidenced by personal skills, knowledge, and an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree education in the subject they will teach.
• Proficiency as evidenced by quantitative and qualitative results while teaching in previous experience.
Qualities of a Successful Candidate High-level communication skills;
• Ability and experience in engaging the interest of school-age children;
• Enthusiasm to work with diverse children, including those with special needs;
• Ability to work well with families;
• Mindset and skills to work effectively as a team member;
• Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for student results.
• Spanish fluency highly preferred
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
