Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teachers to provide leadership and support in our after-school academic enrichment and tutoring program. Under the direct supervision of the ASAS
- LA Program Coordinator, you will help create a safe environment where youth can be educated, enlightened, and inspired in a school setting.
This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $25.00. You will work afternoons in Los Angeles (South LA, Downtown LA area).
### Qualifications
To be successful, you should have experience working with K-12 students in an educational or community youth outreach setting within a classroom. You must possess a current teaching credential. First Aid and CPR certification are required. You will need to clear a criminal record check via fingerprinting prior to working with youth, and provide TB test clearance on or before your start date (within 60 days of start). Physical ability to lead and participate in structured activities is necessary. Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.
You should be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff, parents, and community leaders. Familiarity with quality criteria for academic benchmarks in English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and other core subjects is important. You must communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others, as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergencies.
### What You'll Do
- Lead and assist in planning and implementing daily academic and tutoring support initiatives of the after-school program under the direction of the program coordinator.
- Prepare a rigorous academic environment with sound classroom management practices, including preparing needed supplies and materials.
- Supervise participants in the classroom.
- Advise and communicate with participants and families regarding any questions or concerns related to their child's well-being.
- Maintain a professional attitude.
- Communicate with the program coordinator and school staff about class/club program activities.
- Communicate with parents and families about program activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
