Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid credentials or certification for teaching special education in a school setting
- Experience working in elementary or high school special education preferred
- Familiarity with alternate curriculum classrooms and life skills programming
- Strong ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Provide direct instruction and modify the curriculum to support functional and academic skill development
- Facilitate social, behavioral, and life skills training using evidence-based strategies
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and family members to optimize student success
- Track and document student progress, maintaining accurate records in accordance with district and state guidelines
- Participate in parent conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings
