Job Description
We’re hiring a Long-Term Substitute Teacher to support a 4th and 5th grade Emotional Disturbance classroom for the 2026–2027 school year.
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19140
Pay: $30.00–$40.00/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time
Start: August 18, 2026 for staff orientation/training; students begin August 24, 2026. Assignment expected through mid-November for maternity leave coverage, with possible opportunity to continue through the school year.
Qualifications
• Pennsylvania Special Education Certification preferred
• Pennsylvania General Education Certification accepted
• Candidates without active PA certification may be considered but must obtain a Temporary Private School Certificate
• Current PA Clearances required:
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance
• PA Criminal Background Check
• PA Child Abuse Clearance
• Act 24 & Act 168
• Current TB Test & Physical
What You’ll Do
• Provide instruction and classroom management in an emotional support setting
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
• Collaborate with classroom support staff and school team members
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Help students work toward individualized goals and success
