Highline Public Schools is seeking a Supervisor of Facilities to support the Maintenance, Operations, and Grounds teams in ensuring that all district facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained for effective teaching and learning. Working under the direction of the Director of Facilities Services, the Supervisor recognizes that high-quality preventive maintenance and responsive service directly contribute to positive learning environments and the district's commitment to belonging and student success. In this role, they oversee daily maintenance operations, develop and implement preventive maintenance procedures - including within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) - and ensure that building systems, equipment, and grounds are consistently functioning at optimal levels. The Supervisor provides guidance and direction to maintenance personnel, supports compliance with regulatory requirements, and helps advance department systems that align with the district's strategic goals.
The ideal candidate brings experience supervising maintenance teams, managing departmental workflows, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. They are a strong communicator who can build trusting relationships and work effectively within a multicultural and diverse community, partnering with school leaders, central office colleagues, and external contractors. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate staff, model a strengths-based and collaborative approach to problem-solving, and contribute to cultivating a culture of professionalism, accountability, and excellence. Through effective supervision, clear communication, and thoughtful planning, they help maintain environments where students and staff feel welcome, valued, and supported.
SUMMARY: Maintains the physical plants in safe operating conditions, so that full educational use of such may be made at all times. Plans, organizes and coordinates the cleaning, maintenance, repair and minor alteration of school buildings and related facilities. Supervises maintenance, grounds and operations staff in support of the physical plant during the day and evening shifts. Provides technical and district-level support to the custodians and principals. Supports the Director on all Resource Conservation Management implementation and planning.
