Job Description
The K–8 Spanish Teacher enhances Cold Spring’s related arts program by giving students the opportunity to build Spanish language skills while exploring the rich cultures of Spanish-speaking communities. As a new position, this role will help build Cold Spring’s foreign language program and support our commitment to preparing curious, globally minded learners. One of our goals is for this program to evolve and provide Spanish 1 high school credit in the coming years for promoting 8th graders while at Cold Spring School. Indiana Teaching License – World Language (Spanish) or appropriate teaching license with Spanish endorsement
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
• Must hold a valid Indiana teaching license with appropriate certification or endorsement in Spanish or World Languages

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction for students in grades K–8 aligned with appropriate language learning standards.
• Develop students’ abilities in Spanish listening, speaking, reading, and writing while building an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
• Design lessons that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for a wide range of grade levels.
• Evaluate student work and assessment data to inform instruction, monitor student progress, and support language acquisition.
• Administer formative and summative assessments to measure student progress in language proficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and prepare progress reports and other required documentation.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technology to support student engagement and language development.
• Integrate cultural learning experiences that deepen students’ understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and global perspectives.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional staff, and administration to support student success across grade levels.

• Maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and respectful communication.
• Encourage family engagement and maintain open communication with families regarding student learning and progress.

• Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and professional learning communities, which may occur outside the regular instructional day.
• Respond promptly to student, family, and staff needs while contributing to a collaborative and solution-oriented school culture.
