Job Description

Join us at Milton Hershey School (MHS), where we provide extraordinary, cost-free, career-focused education to over 2,200 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Established by the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, our school has been a beacon of hope and growth, supported by a well-endowed foundation. Today, we proudly continue this legacy with over 12,000 graduates and ongoing expansion to serve more students.

We are currently seeking dedicated married couples to take on the fulfilling role of Full-time Flex Houseparents. As integral contributors to our students' lives, you will reside in on-campus homes and provide essential care, supervision, and mentorship to a group of approximately 8-13 students. Your involvement will be pivotal in creating a structured, nurturing environment that promotes academic, emotional, and social growth, empowering these students to reach their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Providing daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Managing household routines and schedules effectively.
• Administering medications and promoting student wellness.
• Driving students to various activities and leading developmental and recreational engagements.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting tasks.

Upon joining, you will initially support various student homes and follow a dynamic schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. While students are in school, you will have unscheduled time to focus on household management. Over time, you will transition into a Placed Houseparent role, working closely with the same group of students in a dedicated environment.

Benefits Include:
• Competitive salary of $46,917.00 per person, totaling approximately $180,000 per couple, including free housing, meals during duty hours, utilities, and more.
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings and flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability options, and retirement savings.
• Relocation assistance and paid training to ensure your success.
• Paid time off at designated times throughout the year.

Qualifications:
• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Couples must be legally married for at least two years and both individuals must be 27 years or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus, with no alcohol allowed while on duty.
• Pet limitations permit only fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and the ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and attending Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism, as MHS staff serve as role models for students.

This unique, challenging, and rewarding career requires a strong commitment to student success from both spouses. To be considered, both partners must complete individual employment applications. We look forward to welcoming you into our vibrant community dedicated to changing lives.
