Job Description

Position Description: The San Antonio Education Partnership, a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, seeks an experienced professional to serve as a College Access and Success Advisor - cafécollege. The College Access and Success Advisor – cafécollege provides individualized advising and group programming to support students of all ages in pursuing and completing postsecondary education. The Advisor works closely with the cafécollege Program Manager to deliver programs that increase college access, affordability, and success for youth and adult learners. Since 1989, the underrepresented and underserved students in San Antonio have been given the opportunity and confidence by the San Antonio Education Partnership to experience the dream and success of attending and graduating from college. The goal of the Education Partnership is to close the college graduation gap for San Antonio by having its students graduate from high school, enroll in college and earn a college degree and/or certificate.Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Advising and Support
Provide individualized advising in five core areas: goal setting, career planning, college entry and enrollment, college affordability and financial aid, and college transition and persistence. Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to assess student goals and support needs. Advise students on transcript evaluation, college application processes, and admission requirements. Support students and families with financial aid processes, including FAFSA and TASFA completion, verification, and award acceptance. Assist students in identifying and applying for scholarships and additional financial resources. Support students transitioning into and through postsecondary education, including referrals and follow-up services. Data, Documentation, and ReportingDocument advising sessions, participation, and benchmark outcomes in designated data systems.Monitor, maintain, and correct student records by verifying data against source documentation. Manage multiple projects and reporting deadlines; submit timely and accurate reports as required. Maintain confidentiality and data security in compliance with FERPA and SAEP policies.Outreach, Partnerships, and Program SupportPartner with the Program Manager to build and maintain relationships with higher education institutions, community-based organizations, employers, and other stakeholders, with a focus on expanding resources for adult learners.Conduct offsite outreach to increase awareness of services for cafécollege among students, families, schools, and the broader community. Deliver workshops and presentations on college access and success topics to target audiences.Support special projects that promote college access, financial aid literacy, and successful college transitions. Advance SAEP’s mission by supporting cross-departmental initiatives and organizational priorities as assigned. Perform other related duties as required.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, public administration, social sciences, or related field required. Knowledge of college advising, counseling, or student support practices and procedures. Experience with data collection, performance tracking, and accountability preferred. Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Gujrati, or Pashto preferred but not required.Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge of college access processes, including college applications, admissions, financial aid, and college transition supports. Familiarity with local higher education institutions and policies, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of career pathways and in-demand occupations requiring postsecondary credentials. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry/reporting systems; Salesforce experience preferred.Core Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills. Friday – Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. • Work schedules are based on a five-day, 40-hour workweek. • This is an in-office position located at 131 El Paso St., San Antonio, TX 78204, with travel to offsite outreach activities when necessary. Physical Requirements• Subject to sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and walking to perform the essential functions.Direct Reports• NoneSalary: $37,500 and up commensurate with experience + full time benefits to include health, dental, life, generous Paid Time Off policy, paid holidays, and 401K retirement savings plan with match.
