Job Description:

The Arts for Learning After-School Enrichment Classroom Lead is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and ensuring the safety of all students before, during, and after the program. The classroom lead must be present in the classroom at all times while students are engaged in learning activities, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities Include:

The After-School Enrichment Classroom Lead has the following specific responsibilities:

Establish a positive and productive after school climate for all students.

Build relationships with students, staff, and parents to create a positive, supportive community within the classroom and site.

Attend all professional development and planning meetings as instructed by Arts for Learning.

Complete all required paperwork as assigned by the Site Lead

Engage parents, guardians, and families effectively, including responding to family inquiries in a timely manner, and contacting parents/guardians to provide progress updates, share challenges, etc.

Collaborate with and provide support for various partners and external stakeholders.

Follow and uphold all site health and safety procedures.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Support their Teaching Artist partner and their students in daily Arts enrichment activities as taught by Teaching Artists.

Provide one-on-one instruction and support to students as needed.

Support Teaching Artists as they facilitate their program in the Classroom.

Qualifications:

A willingness to be flexible in service to the After-School Enrichment program, organized by Arts For Learning Maryland.

A passion for students and the ability to build meaningful relationships, and a desire to “go above and beyond” to ensure each student’s success.

A strong interest (with experience preferred) in arts integration, exploration, and enrichment.

A willingness to use either the school office landline or their personal cell phone (number blocking is acceptable) to contact parents regularly.

An ability to attend and engage in all required training and program dates.

An ability to create inclusive environments where all students’ unique gifts and talents are discovered and cultivated, and where students’ identities (racial, cultural, social, gender, etc.) are acknowledged, affirmed, and reflected around them.

An ability to examine biases and understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and their impact on policies and practices, especially related to the administration of public education.

A commitment to seeing families as partners in education and communicating with them regularly.

A strong desire to fully integrate into a non-traditional learning environment where flexibility is strongly valued, and new and innovative ideas are cultivated and expected from all staff.

Please note that staff working in the After-School Enrichment program will need to be able to stand, walk, and be active throughout the program day. They must be able to keep up with and supervise students within and outside the classroom. Staff will also need to be able to lift up to 20 lbs on occasion when setting up and breaking down the classroom and/or preparing for performances and other events. Bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs are also frequently needed during these programs.

Required Dates, Times, and Working Hours:

After-School Arts Enrichment Classroom Leads must be able to commit to attending the program and training days listed below. Dates are tentative and may be subject to change:

Arts for Learning After-School Enrichment Program Dates: The program will run Monday through Thursday, following the Wildwood calendar, from Sept 8, 2026, to June 3, 2027, from 2:30 pm - 5:30 PM. .

Classroom Lead time commitment: 3 hours per day

Compensation:

The After-School Enrichment Classroom Lead position is temporary, non-exempt, and not eligible for employee benefits. However, it is eligible for time off in the form of accrued Sick and Safe leave.

Classroom Leads will be paid an hourly rate of $40
