Job Description
Embark on a dynamic opportunity as a full-time general education science teacher for the upcoming academic year, serving middle school students near Philadelphia, PA. This contract role requires onsite presence between August 24, 2026, and June 10, 2027, with a consistent 35-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, from 8:30AM to 4PM. The caseload will consist solely of general education students, with the potential of collaborating alongside a special education teacher for any SPED learners.
Your commitment to engaging instruction and mastery of science content will foster both academic growth and classroom success. Youll develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state and district standards, utilize formative assessments, and practice effective classroom managementespecially vital in an urban educational environment.
Key Qualifications & Requirements:
• Active PA teaching certification or eligible for emergency teaching permit with a bachelors degree
• Prior school-based teaching experience, preferably in urban settings
• Demonstrated mastery of science subject matter and instructional methods
• Ability to create differentiated lesson plans aligned with standards
• Strong classroom and behavior management skills are essential
• Reliable transportation for consistent onsite attendance
• Willingness to comply with all Pennsylvania state clearance requirements
• Flexibility in working exclusively within defined hoursno alternative schedules accommodated
• Comfortable working within district expectations and onsite location
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach general education science to middle school students
