TITLE: ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Hold a valid administrative certificate.
• Master's Degree
• Such additions and alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent
SUPERVISES:
• All staff assigned to the school.
• All other resource and service personnel while functioning in the assigned school.
JOB GOALS:
• Administers the school according to the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Board of Education – under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent and/or
Superintendent.
• Provides educational leadership to both faculty and students and inspires them to contribute their best efforts.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works to improve instruction and learning with the school, and effectively aids teachers in their instruction and students in their learning.
• Develops and maintains suitable programs of staff improvement through faculty meetings, in-service activities, etc.
• Provides educational leadership for the certified staff, evaluates their services and reports the evaluations.
• Exercises initiative in promoting the attendance, moral and spiritual values, conduct, health and safety of students and personnel of the assigned school.
• Provides educational leadership in developing and pursuing a program of public relations designed to improve the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.
• Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school system.
• Assists in the recruitment, selection, retention, promotion and assignments of all personnel under his direction.
• Supervises the development and implementation of all school activities.
• Provides leadership for the non-certified staff, evaluates their services and reports the evaluations.
• Exercises decisive leadership in crisis situations.
• Keeps abreast of changes and developments to assure professional growth.
• Submits reports regarding personnel, curriculum, equipment, supplies, activities and other required reports.
• Assumes all other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent.
• Recommends for approval all course offerings, textbook adoptions, and other instructional matters.
• Designs the master scheduling of classes.
• Directs all school business affairs.
• Approves all purchase orders and countersigns all pay orders from school activity fund accounts.
• Directs pupil accounting procedures.
• Coordinates school programs, events, or activities which have district implication through the Superintendent.
• Directs instructional programs to meet the individual needs of the students and to assure accreditation.
• Initiates programs, activities, and events – original or innovative in nature. (Programs, activities, and events having district implications should be approved by the superintendent.)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Eleven-month contract (210 days)
• 1.2785 ratio

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
