We are seeking a temporary Full-Time Social Studies Teacher to join the team from August 2026.

LEARNING AND TEACHING
• Design, plan and prepare engaging and personalized learning experiences that motivate and inspire all students.
• Plan opportunities for students to explain, discuss, explore, reflect and solve problems so that they are highly engaged and encouraged to think critically and creatively.
• Encourage students to reflect on their own thinking and to think in different and better ways.
• Identify clear learning objectives and educational outcomes in planning documentation and share these with students.
• Ensure that approaches to learning and teaching are appropriately differentiated to meet the needs of all students and challenge their curiosity.
• Have excellent pedagogy and subject knowledge that translates into meaningful strategies for raising student achievement.
• Set high expectations for student behavior, establishing and maintaining a supportive and inclusive culture by forming positive and productive relationships.
• Identify students who may require additional support and/or challenge and give positive and targeted support.
• Maintain an orderly, learning focused environment including general atmosphere, classroom and corridor displays, classroom organization and tidiness.

MONITORING, ASSESSMENT, RECORDING, REPORTING
• Implement assessment for learning, of learning and as learning with a variety of strategies in line with school policy and expectations.
• Assess and track students’ achievements and progress in accordance with the school’s monitoring systems.
• Provide purposeful and regular feedback to all students so that they understand how to improve upon their own learning.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of students to monitor progress.
• Set appropriate, realistic, yet challenging targets for learning, building on prior attainment.
• Analyze assessment data on a regular basis identifying individual students and cohorts of students who require further support/challenge.
• Produce informative reports for parents, in a professional manner, based upon tracking, assessment and your knowledge of the student.
• Meet with parents and other interested parties as and when required, to discuss individual student progress.
• Be accountable for the learning outcomes of the students in your lessons.

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
• Support the full life of the school beyond the classroom.
• Undertake the planning and organization of educational visits as required.
• Deliver extra-curricular clubs in line with the school’s expectations.
• Support all school events including productions and assemblies.
• Prepare and present clear and informative reports to parents about students' progress and achievements.
• Communicate with current and future parents and their students with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
• Uphold and promote the core values of the school within the parent and wider community, celebrate its successes.
• Facilitate parental engagement by ensuring students learning and next steps are shared and any concerns are responding to in an appropriate and timely manner, seeking positive resolution and consensus.
• Prepare, lead and participate in presentations to parent about learning and curriculum matters.
• Act as a professional teammate, working productively with and respectfully towards colleagues, so that all feel valued, included, supported, and part of the team.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Understand the need to take responsibility for your own professional development.
• Reflect on you own professional practice and use this to improve your effectiveness.
• Maintain currency with the curriculum and current educational thinking as relevant to your curriculum area and Key Stage.

OTHER
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Teaching Qualification PGCE/QTS etc.
• Minimum 2 years teaching experience.
• Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in.
• Compliance with visa requirements for working in the United States. You must have either a British or American passport or be authorized to work in the USA for any employer.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

Qualification/ Training:
• Qualified to degree level or above – Essential
• PGCE/QTS – Essential for expat candidates outside of the USA
• Evidence of further professional training – Desirable

Experience:
• Proven track record with at least 2 years’ teaching experience – Essential
• Experience of delivering the English National Curriculum, KS3 to KS5 – Desirable
• Experience of KS5 examination success at A level, International Baccalaureate Diploma or equivalent level an advantage – Desirable
• Experience of teaching IB History - Desirable

• Demonstrable experience of innovating and adapting curriculum to engage all learners and enabling them to reach their potential – Essential
• Successful experience of working in partnership with parents – Essential
