Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Three (3) years experience in Maintenance (i.e. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, building controls). Maintenance certification preferred. Current valid Tennessee driver's license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Necessary to perform job functions working with limited supervision, basic communication, reading, and mathematics. Ability to drive to various locations for daily assignments.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Make semi-skilled repairs to buildings, equipment, and/or grounds in a safe, clean, and orderly manner in accordance with health and fire regulations.
• Perform preventative maintenance. Lubricate, change/clean filters, drive belts, sprockets, shafts, and bearings as necessary to ensure proper operation.
• Make adjustments and repairs to locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets, door hinges, and lockers.
• Assist with relocations of furnishings such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.
• Clean debris from the roof and roof gutters as necessary and perform minor patchwork.
• Perform minor carpentry work in the repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, roofs, furniture, and shelves.
• Regularly test and repair/replace emergency lighting as necessary.
• Identify plumbing problems and make minor repairs to above- and below-ground supply/drainage/sewer systems.
• Make minor electrical repairs.
• Assist skilled/licensed labor in their performance of major repairs to electrical, mechanical, structural, plumbing, refrigeration and food service equipment.
• Operate power tools and equipment and maintain good working conditions.
• Perform high work on staging, ladders, scaffolding, and 'bucket truck' as required.
• Exhibit ability, attitude, and appearance that will withstand constant public scrutiny.
• Communicate & maintain positive rapport and positive working environment with principals, staff, and the public.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance / Director of Schools

Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van

Posture:
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion:
Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment:
Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
