Farm Camp Director and Animal Steward

Golden Bridges School

Reports to:

• Administrative Director

Evaluation:

• Self-Evaluation Annually

• Evaluation by Administrative Director Annually

Camp Leadership

• Oversee the camp program including program modeling, budgeting, billing, and vision.

• Work all weeks of camp to ensure smooth daily operations and that campers are safe and well cared for.

• Ensure camp programs are well advertised with support from the admin team.

• Hire, train, mentor, and manage the camp staff.

• Supply management - Identify and procure supply needs for camp.

• Facilitate weekly camp meetings.

• Be administrator on duty for any camp emergencies, arranging with the Admin Director to cover any weeks that you need to take your vacation time.

Animal Steward

• Report to Land Steward, weekly check in

• Animal program development: collaborate with land steward, farmer, leadership and animal program committee, to develop an animal program in alignment with our ideals and ethos.

• Works closely with Land Steward and manages projects for the first year set up of the new, dream animal program. Apply for permits if needed, communicate with health department/ ACC

• Acquire adopted animals for farm

• Coordinate visiting animals to farm (Toluma goat farms)

• Fill weekly care gaps

• Perform weekly animal wellness checks on weekend day for continuity of care

• Coordinate weekend, school break, and holiday animal care volunteers

• Train animal care volunteers and farm camp staff, including training sessions at four weekend farm work days and additional as needed

• On call emergency animal care (weekends, school breaks and holidays)

• Administer preventative care to animals

• Coordinate vet care

• Provide sick/ injured animal care on site or at your home

• Repair housing, storage, tree protection, etc as needed

• Manage all animal supplies and materials, including their storage

• Establish relationship with emergency animal caregivers to cover when you’re unavailable or taking vacation

• Schedule emergency animal caregivers when you are unavailable or on vacation

• Partner with admin and land steward to develop health and safety protocol

• Develop poor air quality protocol for animal

Farm work and Maintenance

• Maintain sanitation standards; stock cleaning supplies and soap

• Set up and maintain handwashing stations

• While at the farm, prioritize animal care, and assist with general farm maintenance tasks as needed, as directed by the farmers.

Teaching Responsibilities

• Preschool aftercare, Wednesday afternoons.

All-School Responsibilities

• Participate in two school festivals per year.

Continuing Education Expectations

• Coordinate animal care and attend all in-school provided professional development offerings.

• In partnership with the Administrative Director, develop a professional development plan for Waldorf education and Anti-racist training. School will pay for all required professional development courses approved within the professional development plans.

Compensation:

• Salaried employee

Time off:

• 8 weeks pre planned not during school breaks
