Job Description

Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 - 12 located in Towson, Maryland, seeks a full-time Social Studies teacher for the 2026 - 2027 school year for the Upper Level (Grades 9 – 12). This position involves teaching five sections of 9 th grade United States Government. These courses emphasize analytical writing, source-based inquiry, and discussion-centered instruction.

The ideal candidate will be committed to developing students’ historical thinking skills, including argumentation, use of evidence, and critical analysis, while fostering an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. Candidates should be eager to collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and contribute to a dynamic and supportive department.

Dates for the 10-month position are August 16 th to June 15 th (as well as attending new employee orientation August 17, 18 & 19, 2026). Annual reporting dates based on school calendar.

Key Responsibilities:
• Teach up to five sections of Social Studies courses in a college-preparatory environment
• Serve as an advisor and mentor to Upper Level students, fostering their academic success and personal growth
• Collaborate with colleagues to design, evaluate, and enhance curriculum and instructional practices
• Pursue ongoing professional development and remain current with best practices in teaching and learning
• Contribute meaningfully to the broader school community through service, student activities, and other responsibilities as assigned

Desired Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Social Studies or a related field (required)
• A master’s degree (preferred)
• Maryland State teacher certification or eligibility for certification
• A passion for teaching Social Studies and fostering students' critical thinking, analytical writing, and civic engagement
• Prior experience teaching high school Social Studies (preferred)
• The ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as a member of the Social Studies Department and the broader NDP community

Annual salary is $50,000 to $70,000 based upon degrees and experience.
