Job Description
About Us: Achievement Unlocked (AU) is a community of lifelong learners that educates students who are not adequately served by traditional school settings. Using best practices, perseverance, and transparency, AU provides an academically challenging education focused on individuals’ social and emotional growth so they may better navigate and thrive in the world. We believe that every child can learn when given the proper support, environment, and respect for their learning process. Our collaborative problem-solving approach and differentiated education programs cater to every student at their precise level of need, providing the support necessary for their growth.
AU serves academically advanced and emotionally challenged students in grades 1 through 8 who struggle with emotional regulation and social engagement. Many of our students are diagnosed with ASD, Anxiety, ADHD, or accompanying dysregulation disorders. While there is not a typical AU profile, students may have exhibited school refusal or suffered from failures in previous environments. Our students struggle to concentrate, manage their emotions, and deal calmly with provocation. Most do not have self-regulation mechanisms. We see these challenges as learning opportunities.
Job Description: We are seeking an assistant teacher to engage students in academics, help them focus, strengthen their planning ability, and practice social skills. Assistant teachers work closely with teachers and related service providers. We are not a 1:1 program, but at AU there is almost a 1:1 student adult ratio. Our education programs are individualized to cater to every student at their precise level of need, providing the support necessary for their growth and assistant teachers are a key part of our ability to do this.
We are looking for hard-working people who enjoy being with children who have quirky personalities. Our students often have not done well in schools before coming to AU and typically like video games, chess, coding, and role-playing games. You will be working with students. This position requires flexibility, a growth mindset, and the willingness to partner with support staff and foster collaboration as a team.
