Role Description The Educational/Classroom Aide is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbus, OH, supporting students and teachers in daily classroom activities. This role assists with implementing lesson plans, preparing instructional materials, and guiding students during whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one learning. The aide helps monitor student behavior, supports behavior management strategies, and reinforces classroom expectations in a calm, consistent manner. Responsibilities include supervising students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure safety and engagement. The Educational/Classroom Aide collaborates closely with teachers and support staff, contributes to an inclusive classroom environment, and communicates observations and needs to the instructional team.
Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to follow directions, share observations, and support collaboration with the teaching team.
• Background or interest in education, classroom support, or related fields; experience in school or youth programs is preferred.
• Experience or comfort working with children in group and individual settings, with a patient and supportive approach.
• Ability to assist with behavior management, including reinforcing expectations, using de-escalation strategies, and maintaining a structured environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in education, child development, psychology, or a related area is a plus.
• Ability to follow school policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality, and uphold a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory environment.
• Capacity to stand, walk, and actively engage with students throughout the day; ability to assist with light classroom setup and organization.
• Willingness to participate in training, professional development, and ongoing feedback to support student success.
