Position Summary

Southside Community School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior High Science Teacher to teach students in grades 6–8.

The successful candidate will inspire curiosity through engaging, hands-on learning experiences while helping students develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts and their real-world applications. The ideal teacher creates a structured, positive classroom culture where students are challenged academically and supported socially and emotionally.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging science instruction aligned with Arizona Science Standards for grades 6–8.

• Develop lesson plans that incorporate inquiry-based, hands-on, and project-based learning opportunities.

• Assess student learning through formal and informal assessments and use data to guide instruction.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

• Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment.

• Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, and student information.

• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

• Collaborate with administrators and colleagues to support student achievement.

• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.

• Work collaboratively with the administration regarding student promotion or retention decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Must meet Arizona charter school requirements for teaching junior high science by possessing at least 24 semester credit hours in science-related coursework and/or passing the applicable NES Science subject assessment.

• Previous classroom experience with middle school or junior high students preferred.

• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

• Commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and continuous growth.
