Definition
Under the supervision of the Director of Nutrition Services, the Nutrition Services Program Lead is responsible for a wide range of tasks to oversee the operations of the school satellite kitchens and central kitchen facility including planning, production, and delivery of food to sites; complete purchasing requisitions and orders of certain foods and supplies; training and providing work direction to assigned nutrition services personnel; preparing and maintaining a variety of records and reports, and performing related work as required. The Nutrition Services Clerk Program Lead also supports and assists in all activities pertaining to the Nutrition programs according to county, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Functions
• Direct nutrition services personnel to maximize work efficiency and meet shift requirements. Arrange daily substitute personnel needs within the school sites & central kitchen. Facilitate the orientation and training of staff. Perform duties of other Nutrition Services staff to ensure work coverage of program operations.
• Travel to school sites to observe operations, provide assistance and resolve problems. Provide input to performance evaluations as needed.
• Establish production schedules and assure that food and supply deliveries are made in a timely manner. Monitor production and service function daily to assure quality, quantity and sanitation standards are maintained. Prepare and maintain documents and reports such as transport and production sheets.
• Forecast food and supply needs of Nutrition Services for ordering, minimal inventory, menu preparation, and recordkeeping.
• Inspect food and supply items to verify the correct quantity of orders and to ensure compliance with mandated health requirements and timelines.
• Process, maintain, and update student meal applications, meal reimbursement claims, reports, and software programs for the purpose of meeting deadlines and complying with district, state, and federal guidelines. Conduct the mandatory verification processes.
• Act as a resource person, disseminating information to parents concerning student meal account/negative debt/application/refunds/program, and to school personnel concerning Nutrition Service programs and accounts.
• Inform and assist the director, other personnel or vendors regarding the required documentation and /or procedures to complete transactions.
• Track, research, and call in warranties and repairs (e.g. trucks, equipment, etc.)
• Order and assist sites with inventories and supplies.
• Coordinate year start and close by monitoring and assigning change funds, department keys, etc. for all sites.
• Compile and prepare Nutrition Services field contracts following district policy and procedures.
• Process requisitions in a timely manner. Forward approved purchase orders to vendors. Track department food handler cards and site health inspections to ensure all are current.
• Update and prepare documents (e.g. handbooks, flyers, BIC calendars, student id cards, applications, marketing signs, laminated menus, banners, etc.) utilizing equipment or software and disseminate information to the appropriate parties.
• Generate data, input and review required documents for claims, in preparation of local, state, and federal reports.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems for the operation of the Nutrition Services program. Provide general site support and training to nutrition service users in the proper use of both hardware and software.
• Answer telephone and relay messages. File, update type letters and assist with all general office duties. Distribute mail and supplies.

Education And Experience
• Previous clerical experience working with the public school system is preferred
• Demonstrate and possess excellent analytical, critical thinking, and judgment skills
Licenses And Other Requirements
This classification requires the use of a personal or District vehicle while conducting District business. Must possess a valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance, have an acceptable driving record, and qualify for insurability with the District’s insurance carrier.
