Primary Purpose:

The HS Math Instructional Coach (IC) will, with the guidance of the Director of HS Curriculum & Instruction and an external partner, coach an assigned group of teachers with varying levels of teaching ability and experience from across multiple campuses and teaching assignments, on how to improve their instructional techniques, lesson internalization/planning, curriculum alignment, and classroom management. The Instructional Coach will conduct one-on-one observations, coaching conversations, debriefs, and professional development sessions. The IC will be responsible for the growth and development of all teachers assigned and is expected to work seamlessly with all stakeholders involved (campus leadership teams, Curriculum & Instruction team, external partners, etc.) This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon grant funding availability, program needs, and organizational approval.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

• Regularly visit, observe, and provide feedback to math teachers in portfolio (evaluative observations will be conducted by school leadership throughout the year).
• Collaborate and ensure alignment between the network C&I Team and campus directors, campus deans, and teachers on how to improve scholar outcomes.
• Regularly monitor relevant data points such as assessment, scholar work, intervention and exit ticket data alongside classroom observation to support scholar outcome goal achievement.
• Establish a regular cadence with school leaders to ensure instructional coaching feedback is being utilized and executed on.
• Regularly observe, support and co-plan Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) on assigned campuses as needed to ensure fidelity to data analysis and lesson internalization.
• Understand network/campus/team-based priorities and goals and reinforce key messages during interactions with leaders and teachers.
• Communicate with external partner representatives to ensure instructional coaching support aligns with network priorities and instructional goals.
• Support creation of and help facilitate any Uplift-wide professional development sessions, including the summer teacher training
• Participate in regular team meetings, training, and one-on-ones with the Director of HS C&I.
• Maintain all necessary documentation for certification purposes
• Other duties as assigned

Daily Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain a work schedule balancing the needs of math teachers across multiple campuses. Regularly spend the majority of work time on assigned campuses providing coaching, observation, and instructional support based on organizational and campus needs.

Organizational Responsibilities:

• The employee will report to the Director of High School Curriculum and Instruction and will work to support team members to identify math teachers in need of coaching support to achieve student outcome goals. The employee in this role will play an integral role in supporting teachers to effectively analyze and respond to their data and plan effective lessons with differentiated teaching strategies aligned to Uplift's IB curriculum.

Education, Experience, And/or Certification(s)

• Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree is preferred but not required.
• Experience Requirements: Minimum two years of successful classroom teaching experience required. Instructional coaching experience preferred, with one to two years of coaching experience strongly preferred.
• Special Skills/Certifications: Current Uplift Education employee in good standing, if applying internally.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to set priorities. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Bilingual Skills: Spanish Speaking a plus
• Technology: Ability to work with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications such as, but not limited to, Excel or Sheets, PowerPoint or Slides, Outlook, Word or Docs. Ability to use basic office equipment. The ability to learn and use other software, such as Schoology, Eduphoria/Aware and Bluebonnet Math Platforms is necessary.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.

Work Environment:

Regular travel throughout the Uplift Education network is required. A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between campuses are required. This job is primarily conducted inside a school or office building, but there may be some instances where the employee's presence is required outdoors. The noise level is low to high and may have frequent interruptions. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.

Starting Salary: $70,000
