Job Description

The Packer Collegiate Institute invites applicants for an immediate opening as a full-time Upper School Spanish Leave Replacement (grades 9-12) for the remainder of the 2025-2026 academic year. Anticipated start date: ASAP Language learners at Packer learn language, culture, and content in every unit, with social justice and real-world themes woven throughout. Our ideal candidate has familiarity with evidence-based grading, near-native proficiency, experience with Responsive Classroom techniques, and a solid understanding of the ACTFL framework. Responsibilities: Teach 4 sections of Spanish and design engaging curricula and lesson plans Advise a small group of Upper School students Collaborate closely with others in the department and attend all department and division meetings Engage actively in departmental and school-wide diversity, equity, inclusion, & anti-racism efforts Participate actively in departmental initiatives to update curriculum and complete our shift to evidence-based grading Communicate proactively with families via written and oral communication about student work and progress in English Participate in the planning and execution of a two-week Symposium experience for a mixed group of Upper School students Lead and participate in various off-campus field trips Applicants should possess: Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred A strong background in Spanish-language education and enthusiasm for working with high school and middle school students A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community A sincere and visible commitment to excellent teaching and continued professional development Demonstrated ability to develop creative student-centered activities for a diverse group of students A wide array of evidence-based evaluation strategies based on the standards outlined in the ACTFL framework Familiarity with the effective use of technology in teaching a language A genuine desire to collaborate with colleagues, including professional growth through peer observation and feedback Comfort with and interest in working with students in an advisory capacity Reasonable Accommodations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
