Job Description

JOB GOAL:To work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at assigned school. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching or counseling experience
• Master’s degree in Counseling (Preferred)
• Valid Texas Counseling Certification (Preferred)

Duties And Responsibilities

• Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
• Serves as primary college counseling liaison with other schools within the district
• Supports and oversees school counselors to develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive school guidance and

counseling programs.

• Assists in scheduling and providing information about curriculum offerings in the program of studies to staff, students, and

parents.

• Coordinates and oversees the activities of the College & Career Success department such as home visit, parent activities

and trips.

• Supports and oversees all stakeholders (admins, staff, students, parents, PTO/PTA committee, community leaders,

higher education institutions, etc.) to fulfill the school mission and goals,

• Analyzes and evaluates the on-going College & Career programs by providing data to the administration.
• Meets with the designated person to evaluate the programs on a regular basis.
• Collaborates with the district and campus administrator to run activities such as middle-high school transition, internships,

various certificate programs, scholarships, and senior-alumni transition.

• Supports and oversees campus alumni gathering activities in order to maintain campus alumni networks to build healthy

and strong school community.

• Supports and oversees the planning and organizing major senior activities and graduation.
• Supports and oversees connection with Harmony alumni student organizations (HASO) to provide academic, social,

emotional support programs for seniors and incoming freshmen during the transition period.

• Supports and oversees campus career events such as career fairs, workshops and talks for all students and parents.
• Supports and oversees Summer Melt Prevention Program and Fall College Check-Ins for all high school graduates.
• Collaborates with other departments which provide counseling services to ensure cohesive implementation and delivery of

services.

• Coordinates counseling information and record keeping.
• Assists in scheduling and providing information about curriculum offerings in the program of studies to staff, students, and

parents.

• Remains current in the area of counseling through membership in professional organizations, reviews of related literature

and attendance of workshops and in-service programs.

• Coordinates school college/university trips.
• Attends ARD, LPAC meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external

to the district.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,

calculator, copy machine and telephone.

• Ability to analyze data
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

• Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
• Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
• Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
• Moderate travel is required.
