We are seeking a Bilingual Montessori Primary Assistant Teacher to join our Children’s House (ages 3–6) program. This role is ideal for someone who is calm, dependable, observant, and energized by supporting young children in developing independence and confidence
This is more than a classroom support role. Our assistants are essential members of the teaching team. Through careful observation, thoughtful preparation of the environment, and consistent support of classroom routines, they help create the calm, orderly atmosphere that allows children to develop independence, concentration, and confidence.
Responsibilities
As a Primary Assistant Teacher, you will:
• Support the Lead Guide in maintaining a peaceful, orderly, and beautiful Montessori classroom
• Prepare, clean, organize, and care for classroom materials and the prepared environment
• Support children with daily routines, transitions, independence, grace and courtesy, and practical life skills
• Support the Lead Guide in implementing the Montessori program and maintaining consistency in classroom expectations.
• Observe children carefully and share objective observations that support the Lead Guide's understanding of each child's development and needs.
• Provide warm, respectful support for children’s social, emotional, and behavioral development
• Help supervise indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student safety and well-being
• Support snack, lunch, restroom routines, and other daily care needs as appropriate
• Collaborate closely with classroom and school colleagues as part of a professional team
• Communicate professionally with staff and families as needed
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
• Is fluent in both Spanish and English
• Has experience working with young children in a school, childcare, or educational setting
• Is calm, patient, dependable, and emotionally mature
• Understands how to support children with warmth while maintaining consistency and clear expectations
• Takes initiative and notices what needs attention in the classroom before being asked
• Is highly organized and attentive to detail
• Works well as part of a collaborative team
• Demonstrates professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct
• Is physically able to work in an active classroom environment, including standing, bending, lifting, and supervising outdoors
• Holds an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Qualifications
• Montessori classroom experience
• AMI or AMS Montessori training or coursework
• Experience working with children ages 3–6
• Experience in diverse educational settings
• Interest in growing professionally within Montessori education
