Location: South Campus

Salary is commensurate upon previous experience and valid certification.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of three years’ teaching experience in a Texas Public School.

• Experience teaching elementary age students and curriculum.

• Able to teach in English and Spanish.

OBJECTIVE

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative guidelines. The Elementary Teacher should be able to manage a classroom environment, communicate and teach on one or more subjects clearly and effectively and follow school procedures. This position is responsible for monitoring each student’s progress and providing extra mentorship to those who need it. The Teacher should also enforce school rules and encourage good student behavior in and out of the classroom.

Teaching children about core concepts, such as numbers, letters, shapes, and colors. Using creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling. Planning a curriculum that addresses early childhood education requirements. Work with students individually to help them overcome specific learning challenges.

Patience, compassion, and energy are all vital qualities of a successful Pre-K Teacher. You should be capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. To plan and execute lessons which are memorable, innovative and achieve the desired learning outcomes, the teacher should have a creative mindset and good administrative skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Internalizing and teaching curriculum aligned to grade-level TEKS.

• Encouraging and monitoring academic interactions between children.

• Implementing classroom management structures and routines so that children work effectively in a classroom setting.

• Supervising children outside of class time, such as during lunch, out on the playground, on field trips, morning arrival, and afternoon dismissal.

• Making sure that the classroom is clean, safe, and well-organized.

• Setting up the materials and workspaces required for class activities.

• Communicating with parents to learn more about each child’s life outside the classroom.

• Creating reports to inform parents about their children’s progress at school.

• Submitting lesson plans weekly as required by the curriculum.

• Participating in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) within and outside of instructional hours.

• Teaching Afterschool and Saturday School intervention lessons.

• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
