About City Year
City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to promoting student success in schools. Our teams of passionate AmeriCorps members provide critical support to students, classrooms, and the whole school community, ensuring all students receive a high-quality education that equips them with essential skills to thrive and positively impact their communities.
Your Mission
As a City Year AmeriCorps member, your focus will be on coaching and mentoring students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. You will play a vital role in empowering students to achieve academic success, enhance their attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Your responsibilities will include monitoring student progress and collaborating with teachers to facilitate classroom instruction and activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide academic coaching and interpersonal development for students through individualized and small group interactions.
• Enhance literacy and math skills by tailoring engaging learning activities to meet diverse student needs.
• Establish and implement effective behavior management systems to support student engagement.
• Foster the development of interpersonal skills through proven strategies involving learning, practice, reflection, and repetition.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and fellow team members to gather and analyze individual student progress data.
• Create a safe, engaging, and healthy classroom environment in partnership with the teacher.
• Support school-wide initiatives that aim to boost student and family engagement.
• Help facilitate extended day and virtual programming to support students before, during, and after school hours.
• Organize and lead events that celebrate and acknowledge student achievements in academics and behavior.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you should meet the following criteria:
• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency (DACA status not eligible)
• Aged between 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Hold a GED, high school diploma, or some college experience
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps program
• Complete a background check
• Availability to start in July/August 2025 (exact date may vary by location)
