The Opportunity

YES Prep needs a dynamic Teacher Fellow with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.

To put it simply, the Teacher Fellows provide campuses with highly qualified instructors who cover leaves of absences in high impact courses throughout the school year. The goals of the Teacher Fellow Program are to:
• Reduce the lift on Principals and campus leaders to plan for leaves of absence in high-impact courses.
• Significantly decrease the impact that a classroom teacher’s leave of absence has on students and students’ academic achievement.
• Provide a candidate pool for forthcoming teacher of record vacancies.
The Role

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work will include:
• Embedding with the staff and students at one or more YES Prep schools to quickly learn the cadence of a school day, build relationships within the community, and become a content area expert in the course you are covering;
• Seamlessly transitioning into the role of a teacher of record and fulfilling all assigned duties and responsibilities with the exception of independently planning lessons from scratch;
• Executing strong, classroom management for students in all grade levels;
• Internalizing and preparing lessons that maintain excellent instruction for all students and ensure that no instructional time and learning is lost;
• Ensuring that lessons are rigorous, so students are prepared for college and beyond;
• Collaborating with teachers, campus staff, and content leaders within the system to ensure lessons are aligned and meet the specific needs of all students;
• Providing feedback to students, verbally and on graded assignments, that encourage them and ensure they achieve their academic and behavioral goals;
• Persisting in the face of challenges, learning from mistakes, and setting a strong example of character for your students;
• Growing professionally in the craft of teaching by both receiving and giving feedback on a consistent basis;
• Working on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency, support, and accountability to all students;
• Working outside the school day to conduct tutorials, provide additional instruction, and perform campus duties;
• Attending all professional development required of novice teachers (except ACP-related training);
• Additional duties as assigned.
