Special Education Teacher
Golf School District 67 is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join the Golf Middle School staff. Qualifications & Requirements
Licensure: Must hold or be eligible to attain an Illinois Professional Education License (PEL) with a Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement.
Endorsement: English as a Second Language (EL) endorsement is required.
Primary Responsibilities & Goals
IEP Development & Management: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet specific student goals and maintain accurate records in compliance with IDEA.
Instructional Adaptation: Modify and adapt district-approved curriculum and instructional materials, including the use of assistive technology, to meet diverse learning profiles.
Assessment & Reporting: Administer subject-specific assessments and monitor progress toward learning targets, standards, and IEP goals to provide feedback to stakeholders.
Behavioral Support: Manage student behavior and physical space to provide a safe environment, including the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
Collaboration & Leadership: Actively participate in and occasionally lead IEP meetings while collaborating with staff, parents, and partners to improve student outcomes.
Professional Conduct: Reflect on practice regarding lesson effectiveness and perform other related duties as assigned by administration.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Physical Demands: Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
Mobility: Generally requires 45% walking, 45% standing, and 10% sitting.
Environment: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings (weather permitting) under varying temperature conditions in a generally hazard-free environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range Salary will be established in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Golf Teachers and Support Staff Union Local 1274. The specific range is determined based on the candidate's education level and years of experience.
