Purpose of the role
Provide high-quality, inclusive instruction that supports each student’s academic, social-emotional, and executive functioning growth. Foster an engaging, well-managed classroom through differentiated teaching, collaboration, and clear communication with families, while ensuring student safety, development, and overall success.
ISP Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality academic instruction tailored to a diverse classroom environment
• Design hands-on, engaging learning experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and real-world application.
• Support students in developing executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, responsibility, independence, and self-motivation.
• Promote social-emotional growth by guiding students in grace and courtesy, collaboration, leadership, conflict resolution, and respect for others.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and readiness levels of all learners.
• Utilize best practices in classroom management and provide behavioral interventions to maintain a supportive, low-disruption learning environment.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, outdoor play, field trips, and dismissal, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Observe students regularly and maintain accurate records of academic, behavioral, and developmental progress to inform instruction.
• Maintain clear, professional, and consistent communication with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with assistants, specialists, and colleagues to support student success and effective classroom operations.
• Participate in school events, staff meetings, professional development, and parent conferences as an active member of the school community.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous growth and lifelong learning.
Skills
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to facilitate inquiry-based, project-based, and collaborative learning experiences
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
• Knowledge of Montessori principles and the developmental needs of middle school-aged children
• Ability to foster student independence, leadership, and accountability
• Ability to differentiate instruction and support a variety of learning styles and developmental needs
• Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
Qualifications
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
• Preferred: Montessori certification (AMS, AMI, MACTE, or equivalent)
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Experience
• Experience teaching middle schools aged students preferred
• Experience facilitating project-based, inquiry-driven, or experiential learning opportunities
• Experience collaborating with families, educational teams, and support staff
Physical Requirements: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing.
