We have an opening for a Physical Education Teacher for our Tucson campus for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, in-person position serving grades K-5. We are looking for an energetic, student-centered educator who is passionate about physical fitness and making an impact on the whole child.
Your Role Will Include:
• Implement a K-5 PE curriculum aligned with Arizona State standards.
• Teach fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, and sportsmanship to students of varying abilities.
• Integrate health and wellness concepts including nutrition, mental well-being, and basic injury prevention.
• Modify activities and instruction to accommodate all skill levels and learning needs.
• Create a positive, safe, structured, and inclusive environment that encourages every student to participate.
• Promote teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship in every class.
• Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of participation, progress, and behavior.
• Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student development.
• Collaborate with staff to support school-wide wellness and fitness initiatives.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
• Organize and support extracurricular activities such as field days, sports clubs, and fitness challenges.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Physical Education or related field preferred.
• Arizona teaching certification in PE preferred, not required. Certification earns a $1,500 salary increase.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required prior to start date.
• 1 to 3 years of PE teaching experience, preferably with elementary-age students.
• Strong classroom management skills, positive energy, and patience with K-5 students.
• Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy in a charter school environment.
Salary and Benefits:
• Salary range is $55,000 to $62,750 per year based on education, experience, and certifications.
• 12-month contract with consistent year-round pay and summers off.
• Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability. Benefits begin first of the month after start date.
• 401(k) with up to 13% employer match, eligible starting Day 1.
• Generous breaks including Thanksgiving week, two weeks at Christmas, spring break, and summer off.
Location and Shift Times:
• Sonoran Science Academy, Tucson, AZ | In-Person | Full-Time.
• Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM | Start Date: July 13, 2026.
• All teachers attend in-service training July 13 through July 17. Teachers may be required to participate in school events or parent meetings outside of regular hours.
