Since its founding in 2005 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, Manhattan Charter School (MCS) has consistently achieved high levels of success. In 2012, MCS opened Manhattan Charter School 2 (MCS2), a replication of MCS located a few blocks away, expanding on the groundwork laid by MCS and bringing high levels of academic achievement to more students.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to fill the dual role of Physical Education and AI Lab Teacher. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting physical fitness and wellness among students while also fostering interest and skills in artificial intelligence and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Education (PE):
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging physical education lessons for students grades K-5 that cater to a range of abilities and interests.
• Teach students the fundamentals of various sports, fitness activities, and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Assess student performance and progress, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
• Organize and supervise extracurricular sports and fitness activities, including inter-school competitions and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education with other subject areas and school-wide initiatives.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all equipment is properly used and stored.
AI Lab:
• Implement a comprehensive curriculum focused on artificial intelligence, coding, and technology for students.
• Teach students to design, build, and test AI models and software applications.
• Introduce students to emerging technologies and their applications in various industries.
• Provide hands-on experience with programming languages, software tools, and hardware components relevant to AI and tech.
• Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity through project-based learning and collaborative projects.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and technology to continuously enhance the curriculum and teaching methods.
• Manage the AI Tech Lab, ensuring all equipment and resources are well-maintained and accessible to students.
• Integrate Technology across subjects including but not limited to ela, math, science, social studies, and art.
Other
• Supports all school responsibilities including but not limited to arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, advisory and interventions.
• Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Principal
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Teaching certification/license in Physical Education and/or Technology Education.
• Previous experience teaching physical education and/or technology courses at the K-12 level.
• Strong knowledge of physical fitness principles, sports, and wellness practices.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with AI technologies, machine learning concepts, and relevant software tools.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Compensation
60,000 - 80,000 annually
