General Definition of Work

The cafeteria manager, under general supervision, performs work related to managing the school's cafeteria including overseeing the preparation and serving of meals while maintaining program integrity and customer satisfaction. This position collaborates with stakeholders in the school, school district, and surrounding community to operate a successful food and nutrition program while complying with federal, state, local, and district standards, and school board policies. Employee performs school-based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Area School Nutrition Supervisor.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures

• Supervise, train, redirect, and delegate work to cafeteria workers at assigned school(s) to ensure appropriate quantity and quality of menu items is available during each meal period

• Operate within established financial, nutrition, inventory, and labor guidelines to ensure a cost-effective program

• Maintain accurate budget records, inventory, and related documentation for all food related equipment and supplies

• Complete all records and supporting documents in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations, including district policies and procedures

• Implement Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HAACP) procedures and ensure employee compliance with health department regulations

• Maintain program integrity and accountability through compliance with annual training requirements/certifications and ensures all cafeteria workers achieve training/certifications within established timeframes for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), North Carolina Health Department, District School Board, and CMS School Nutrition department

• Oversee planning and scheduling to ensure the best food preparation techniques and timelines are being implemented

• Review employee timesheets and perform required payroll functions to assure employees are paid in a timely manner

• Coordinate food service equipment maintenance and repair operations with appropriate district departments

• Maintain high standards for food quality, safety, and sanitation; take corrective action when necessary to ensure the health and well-being of students and school staff

• Maintain individual employee files containing relevant personnel information, including attendance and training records, and disciplinary actions
