Classification: Certified/Licensed

Annual Salary: $ 62,356 - $74,115 (+1,000 w/ Classical Education Background)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The teaching and learning strategist provide direct pedagogical support, instruction, and training to help develop and improve learning solutions for students and teachers at Founders Classical Academy. These supports include but are not limited to working collaboratively with classroom teachers and specialists in developing long-range and weekly lesson plans that include the Nevada Academic Content Standards, modeling best practices in behavior and instruction, side-by-side coaching, assisting teachers in collecting and using data to plan instruction, using research-based strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Provide learning strategies, study skills, research, information, support and assessment and analysis techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide timely, differentiated new teacher support to increase retention, promote teacher effectiveness, and positively impact student achievement.

• Assess professional learning needs and appropriately match supports and resources to increase effectiveness of new teachers and teacher mentors.

• Serve as a mentor teacher, which can include peer observations; develop and monitor data collection; conduct behavior analysis, model behavior management techniques, develop positive behavioral supports and demonstration teaching.

• Prepare and demonstrate model lessons as requested.

• Serve in problem solving capacity with school personnel and parents/guardians.

• Work effectively to support student growth and achievement.

• Assist principal with interventions to improve daily student attendance and positive student conduct.

• Support and motivate parents/guardians to become involved in effective activities that increase student achievement.

• Collaborates with staff, parents and the public to develop and monitor the school improvement plan.

• Analyze and interpret school-level data in order to address school and student performance to improve student academic growth.

• Promotes and maintains a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful, and friendly.

• Supports teachers to resolve differences in communication with parents and students.

• Works with program initiatives related to grade levels.

• Supports teachers in building positive relationships with parents.Collaborate with administration to ensure state testing (i-Ready, KEA, SBAC) schedules, implementation, and review of data are completed by deadlines.

• Collaborate with Literacy/RTI Lead in data and decision making.

• Assist the Head of School in tracking, monitoring, and distributing pre-arranged absence notification forms.

• Collaborate with administration to organize and/or provide professional development around the needs of the faculty/staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Training, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree at a minimum; master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in an accredited K-12 public or private school.

• Strong preference will be given to those candidates who have experience in a classical school.

• Possess a thorough knowledge of a classical liberal arts and science curriculum and its requirements used at Founders Classical Academy – Las Vegas

Licenses and Certificates:

• State of Nevada teaching license

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND HIRING

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits offered include health benefits (health, dental, vision) personal days, sick days, enrollment in the Nevada Public Retirement System (NV PERS).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Strength: Sedentary/light - Exert force to 10 lbs., occasionally.

• Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Vision: Frequent near acuity, occasional far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed and online materials.

• Environmental Conditions: Climate-controlled office setting with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate cold/heat.Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.

• Hazards: Furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals and fumes (as related to specific assignment), and power/hand-operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).

• EXAMPLES OF EQUIPMENT/SUPPLIES USED TO PERFORM TASKS: Various computers, printers, telephones, calculators, copy machines, fax machines, filing cabinets/equipment, etc.
