Location: East Coast-based, frequent domestic and international travel
Overview: We are seeking a dynamic, experienced teacher to provide educational continuity and enrichment for a small pod of students between the ages of 5 and 7 years old. The students are enrolled in a faith-based, Montessori/Reggio Emilia–inspired school and a primary classroom teacher oversees core curriculum coordination. The Traveling Educator will work in close collaboration with the primary teacher to ensure consistency, support, and extension of classroom learning across locations. The family is based on the East Coast and this role will require significant domestic and international travel throughout the year. This role is ideal for an adaptable candidate, who is high-energy, creative, and enthusiastic about inspiring children while simultaneously supporting their learning goals.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Continuity & Instruction
• Deliver daily instruction aligned with the lessons being taught by the student’s primary school.
• Coordinate regularly with the primary teacher to maintain curriculum pacing and learning goals.
• Provide individualized support tailored to each child’s developmental stage.
Family & School Communication
• Maintain clear, proactive communication with parents and the primary teacher.
• Provide regular progress updates and learning summaries with the school and parents.
• Attend virtual planning meetings with the school as needed.
Experiential & Travel-Based Learning
• Design place-based, culturally immersive lessons that integrate travel destinations into the curriculum.
• Facilitate hands-on projects inspired by local art, architecture, nature, and community experiences.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience and working with young children in educational or recreational settings.
• A positive, high-energy approach to work and life; strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills; ability to collaborate and adapt to student and teacher needs.
• Experience working with private families or in pod/hybrid education settings preferred.
• Valid passport and ability to travel both domestically and internationally for extended periods.
• Flexibility, discretion, and professionalism.
Schedule & Logistics
• Full-time position following the academic calendar, with flexibility for travel.
• This role will accompany the family wherever they may be to support education continuity for the children, with significant travel throughout the year.
• Travel expenses covered; compensation commensurate with experience.
